My 97 honda passport has been producing the cliking noise from the valvetrain. It only happens when accelarting hard to 3000 rpm on 1,2 gear (automatic transmission). It's worst when the engine is cold. I took the truck back to the dealer 2 times and they could only upgrade the computer software. The noise still exist. I then tried Penzoid synthetic 10w-30 oil and the noise drops. I also use 98 octane gas. Still I can hear the clicking noise.

I found the SB00-01-S002 bulletin service from Isuzu online. The bulletin said that I need to use mobile 1 0w-30 synthetic oil to clean up the varnish buildup in the hydrolic lash. The only problem is that I can't find 0w-30 oil in california.... Can i use synthetic 5w-30 oil instead ? will the clicking noise go away completely ? Does my truck need to replace the Valvetrain components ?

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. I am going nuts with this clicking noise !!!!

thanks,
